Dear friends,We hope you had a very good Easter. At this wonder-full time of year, we offer these words from Benedictine monk David Steindl-Rast:This April we want to support all those who follow Jesus' path, and as new life springs up all around us, we hope that we too can resource an ever deepening aliveness here in Hull, an aliveness with the life of Christ, an aliveness of justice, peace and joy, through these upcoming events:After Jesus was put away by the establishment, his followers, although at first shattered and scattered, recognised that this kind of life can't be extinguished... That's what we call resurrection... It is something that happens today in countless lives and can be experienced: he freed us. Christ lives in those who follow his path, and they live in him; that's the ultimate kind of salvation. They are alive with his life, and in turn, become saviours for others.Weekly Meditation and Prayer Gathering, happening every Wednesday (except Wed 17th April) at Hull Minster, from 1.30 – 2.30pm.

'There are no words foul and filthy enough to describe war' wrote the decorated First World World chaplain and poet Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy (affectionately known as "Woodbine Willie"). As we witness the brutality of war, terrorism and mass murder - and not just in Ukraine and Palestine and Israel - unfolding before us on our TV screens, at SEARCH we feel there is a need for more brave spaces for difficult conversations, in this case conversations exploring what our Christian faith has to say about war and peace. What are we called to do, and be, in the face of such violence? Our next ‘Space to Think’ will focus on this.
Praying with Prophets – (Tues 30th April, 7-8.30pm, venue 20 Hall Walk, Cottingham, East Yorkshire, HU16 4RL)
Praying with Prophets is an opportunity to gather together around a passage from an Old Testament prophet, using the ancient spiritual practice of ‘Lectio Divina’ to help us listen deeply to discern what God may be wanting to speak to us here in Hull. For this upcoming Praying with Prophets, we will pray with a passage from Joel.
Much peace,
Sam
